ZOVANEX

Craftsmanship

Made once, and made well.

Our approach is deliberately narrow. Fewer decisions, each taken slowly.

The Last

Everything begins with the last. Its volume decides how the shoe holds the foot and how the leather falls across the vamp. Ours is drawn long and low, with a narrow waist that keeps the profile quiet from any angle.

The Leather

Full-grain calf is the intended upper material. It is the only part of the hide that keeps its natural grain, so it resists creasing into hard lines and takes on a patina particular to its wearer. Tannery and finish are still being selected.

The Assembly

Construction method, lining, insole and outsole are under review with our sample makers. We will name each supplier decision only once it is final — never as an aspiration.

The Finishing

Edge dressing, burnishing and the debossed Z at the heel are the last decisions made and the first ones noticed. They are being refined across successive samples.

What we will not do

  • Publish a specification before it is confirmed.
  • Release a design to meet a date rather than a standard.
  • Describe a material we have not selected.
  • Offer a shoe for sale before it exists as we intend it.
